This is an original 1953 color print of 19th century Russian and Ukrainian embroidery patterns. The originals of numbers 1-5 and 7-10 were held in the Central Museum for Ethnology in Moscow, while the original of number 6 was held in the Home Industry Museum in Moscow. 1. Woman’s shirt sleeve cotton embroidery, native to Bessarabia, Russia. 2. Fabric blanket section, native to Bessarabia, Russia. 3. Woman’s shirt wool embroidery, native to Podolia, Ukraine. 4., and 8.-10. Cotton and wool embroidery on towels, native to Podolia, Ukraine. 5. Woven satchel with fringes, native to Bessarabia, Russia. 6. Ukrainian embroidery from the hem of a priest’s frock (robe). 7. Woman’s skirt fabric, native to Poltava, Ukraine.
