The roots of Shaker furniture design can be found in the modest country pieces like this finely-made sewing table from rural New Hampshire. Note the square tapered legs and the delicately molded rim to keep pins and other small objects from rolling off the top. Mortise-and- tenon joinery, with dovetailed drawer. Note the beautiful hand cast brass bail with oval back plates. The Shakers, of course, would have eliminated this detail, describing it as a “superfluity”, or luxury. The original is in a private collection. We make this Sewing Table in clear cherry, with drawer interior of pine. Height is 26″. Top measures 16″ x 16″. Shown in Oil & Wax Finish. This furniture kit contains all the materials needed, except the final finish, including sandpaper, Shaker Oil Finish, hardware, and simple step-by-step instructions. Each component has been precisely fashioned to assure an accurate fit before you do the final hand sanding and finishing. Only common hand tools are needed to assemble our kits. The Studio Desgins Vision Craft Table is contructed for durability. Made of heavy gauge powder-coated steel and tempered blue safety glass. The main surface measures 35-1/2in wide x 24in high and can be adjusted up to 70 degrees. The table has a 23-3/4in wide x 2in deep pencil storage ledge, three molded plastic slide-out drawers, two removable side trays for added storage, casters for mobility and two locking wheels for stability. The table measures 40in wide x 30-3/4in high x 26in deep.
